The 2026 Jeep Cherokee Is Making a Bold Comeback
A Full Revival, Not Just a Facelift
The Jeep Cherokee is coming back, and it is not just a facelift or a mild update. After being discontinued in 2023, the well-known midsize sport utility vehicle is preparing for a full revival as a brand new model for the 2026 model year. And yes, Jeep is going all in with its design and technology this time around.
Sleek Yet Rugged: Design Inspired by Wagoneer S and Compass
Borrowing inspiration from the sleek Wagon Ear S and the redesigned Compass, the upcoming Cherokee embraces a more modern yet rugged look. It still keeps the iconic seven-slot grill up front and maintains its muscular profile, signaling it is ready for serious off-road duties. Although images of the rear have not been shared yet, we expect it to echo the styling cues of the new Compass.
Riding on Stellantis’ Advanced STLA Large Platform
Underneath the body, the 2026 Cherokee will ride on Stalantis’ STLA large platform that opens the door to a range of powertrains. Jeep has already confirmed that a hybrid variant is on the way, and we can expect traditional gasoline and fully electric models, too. This is the same foundation used in upcoming vehicles like the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, which suggests some serious potential.
Powertrain Options: Hybrid, Gasoline, and Electric Possibilities
Whispers are floating around about the possibility of a high-output version using the company’s 3.0L twin-turbocharged Hurricane inline-6 engine. It produces up to 510 horsepower, but let us be honest, those figures might be a bit ambitious for a Cherokee. Still, even a toned-down version would bring exciting performance to the lineup.
Electric Cherokee: What to Expect
The electric model could borrow tech from the Wagon Ear S, including a 100 kWh battery pack paired with dual motors delivering up to 600 horsepower and 617 lb-ft of torque. Again, do not expect the Cherokee to match those numbers exactly, but the setup gives us a good idea of what Jeep might aim for.
U.S. Launch Confirmed for 2026
Jeep has confirmed that the all-new Cherokee will be revealed later this year and will officially hit the market in 2026. Unlike some global models, this one is expected to return to United States showrooms.
